On November 5th, the 4C Association hosted an international webinar titled "Enhancing Coffee Production and Improving Smallholder Farmers' Resilience Through Regenerative Agriculture."
This event occurs as the global coffee industry faces several challenges from climate impacts. Coffee not only serves as the primary income source for millions of small farmers but also plays a vital role in the global agricultural ecosystem. The 4C certification is an international standard for sustainable coffee production and designed to ensure common rules within the coffee community and promote industry sustainability. This workshop aimed to enhance the resilience of small-farmers and promote sustainable coffee cultivation via regenerative agricultural practices.
As a guest speaker, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA Climate Innovation Consulting & Services shared his insights on regenerative practices and learnings from Vietnam. He began with an overview of the coffee industry, highlighting the challenges of intensive coffee cultivation and the necessity of transitioning to sustainable production to protect the environment and secure long-term livelihoods for farmers. Dr. Nam provided general knowledge about regenerative agriculture and its application in coffee production. He focused on crop rotation methods and illustrating them with case studies from Vietnam. Then, he offered recommendations on enhancing small-farmers resilience, adapting to climate change, and improving sustainable economies within coffee communities.
The conference facilitated discussions among Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam and the coffee community including farmers, import-export businesses, and wholesale traders to learn from experiences and propose practical solutions for building a sustainable coffee production ecosystem. KLINOVA is proud to collaborate with parties and contribute to the global effort toward sustainable agricultural development.
