On January 21, representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT), co-hosted a meeting to kick off the development of a Just Transition Framework for the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Vietnam.
The meeting took place at the United Nations headquarters in Vietnam, with the participation of representatives from organizations and agencies, including the Department of Climate Change - the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, the British Embassy in Vietnam, the Delegation of the European Union, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), Frankfurt School of Finance & Management – UNEP Collaborating Centre, and KLINOVA.
At the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing key issues in developing the Just Transition Framework, including the identification of the lead agency, scope of application, target groups, form, and specific timeline; exploring approaches to promote and support the effective implementation of JETP and NDC in Vietnam; and outlining the implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system, along with related funding sources.
Representing KLINOVA, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Stakeholder mapping for the Just Transition (JT), providing an insightful analysis of their awareness, roles, and expectations regarding JT. He emphasized the critical importance of fostering close and coordinated collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Just Transition framework for the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Vietnam.
