Training course for experts on Article 6 of the Paris agreement at the institute for global environmental strategies (IGES)

From September 25 to 27, a training program for experts on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, organized by the Article 6 Implementation Partnership (A6IP), took place in Hayama, Japan. The program was hosted by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in collaboration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, the World Bank (WB), and other partner organizations, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam represented KLINOVA, participating and contributing to discussions during the training sessions.

The training consisted of sessions addressing the implementation of Article 6, related guidelines and rules, and discussions on supporting the promotion of Article 6 implementation in various countries.

On the first day, the workshop focused on the following topics:

• Introduction to Article 6
• Communicating the benefits of Article 6 
• Article 6.2 authorization 

On the second day, experts discussed reporting in relation to tracking the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, including:

• Article 6.2 tracking requirements and linkages with Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) reporting 
• Readiness-building for Article 6.4 implementation 
• Article 6.2 Initial Report

On the third day, the experts delved deeper into issues related to:

• Other International Mitigation purposes (OIMPs) - Use for Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)
•  Article 6.2 reporting on corresponding adjustments

KLINOVA believes that this event plays a crucial role in promoting the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, particularly for developing countries. It also provided an opportunity for KLINOVA to share insights, connect with a network of experts, and learn from the experiences of other countries in the process of implementing Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
