Morning recap | DAAD alumni workshop: connecting research, education and sustainable development cooperation between vietnam and germany

Sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and organized by DAAD alumnus Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, the workshop created a platform for sharing insights and exploring cooperation opportunities in education, research, sustainable development, ESG, and climate change response.

The session opened with Prof. Dr. Tracy Dathe (IU International University of Applied Sciences), who discussed ESG Principles and Changes in Global Value Chains, highlighting opportunities for Vietnam - Germany research collaboration as ESG becomes increasingly integrated into global value chains.
 

Dr. Nam NGUYEN – CEO of KLINOVA Climate Innovation Consulting & Services followed with Green Transition and ESG Consulting Services in Vietnam, offering practical perspectives on the development of ESG consulting and the connection between research, knowledge, and business needs in Vietnam’s green transition.

The workshop continued with academic perspectives from Vietnamese universities. Dr. Ha Thuc Vien and Dr. Le Minh Hanh (VGU) shared approaches to integrating sustainable development into education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hung Anh (IUH) presented experiential approaches to environmental education; Dr. Le Thu Huyen (UTC) introduced research on Digital Twin Platforms for urban transportation; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoai Nga (HUMG) discussed Mining and Geology research aligned with sustainable development.
 

The morning concluded with the DAAD Internal Workshop, where Mr. Felix Wagenfeld, Head of the DAAD Regional Office in Hanoi, introduced DAAD’s support for academic cooperation through consultation, networking, and funding, from identifying partners and understanding Germany’s education and research system to accessing scholarships and institutional cooperation programs. 

Through its academic networks, exchange programs, scholarships, and institutional partnerships, DAAD continues to connect Vietnamese and German institutions, researchers, and experts, creating opportunities for long-term cooperation in education, research, and innovation.
