CHALLENGES OF CLIMATE-COMPATIBLE GROWTH AND ESG
On December 17th, the seminar on “Challenges of Climate-Compatible Growth and ESG” was organized within the framework of the collaboration between the National Economics University and the Climate-Compatible Growth (CCG) research program, United Kingdom.
The seminar aimed to provide updates on CCG activities, the implementation of ongoing projects, and new funding plans for 2025. It also serves as an opportunity to launch the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Circular Economy; introduce Vietnam CCG Country Strategy; and present a project progress monitoring framework and evaluation mechanism for research teams, supporting members in optimizing research effectiveness. At the seminar, experts also shared insights on ESG and potential synergies with Vietnam’s CCG projects. Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA Climate Innovation Consulting & Services, proposed increased collaboration between local and global partners to propel sustainable projects in Vietnam, enhance monitoring frameworks and leverage international resources for innovation in renewable energy and climate resilience.
The event attracted representatives from regulatory bodies, businesses, experts, and researchers, providing an opportunity to foster stronger connections and development in sustainable development.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECONCILIATION OF TRADE AND SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT
On December 17th, the international conference on “Reconciliation of Trade and Sustainable Forest Management” took place, co-organized by the Innovation Research Institute (FICR) of Foreign Trade University, Laval University (Canada), the Independent Directors Association of Vietnam, Rennes II University, and Rennes University (France), with support from the French Embassy in Vietnam. The two-day event (December 17-18) gathered leaders, experts, business representatives, international organizations, lecturers, and students to exchange innovative ideas and solutions for trade development integrated with sustainable forest management.
An event’s highlight was the launch of the Network of Affiliated Researchers on Innovation and Sustainable Development, uniting global experts and researchers, including Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA Climate Innovation Consulting & Services. This marks a pivotal move in bridging global experts and advancing applied, market-driven research.
The conference featured six key sessions. The first explored challenges, opportunities, and long-term strategic directions for the forestry sector. The second emphasized technological solutions for smart forest management. The third clarified the role of international and non-governmental organizations in sustainable policy-making, while the fourth analyzed the impact of national policies and trade agreements on forest management. The final two sessions addressed solutions for sustainable economic models in forestry. The conference contributed to advance sustainable trade and forest resource conservation, not only in Vietnam but on a global scale.
AWARDS CEREMONY: THE STARTUP’S GREEN INITIATIVES 2024
On December 17th, the Resource and Environmental Communication Center - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (RECC), in collaboration with Vietnam Economic Times (VnEconomy), hosted the awards ceremony for the Startup’s Green initiatives 2024 - Solutions for Green Growth and Sustainable Development. The event was graced by Mr. Vu Minh Ly and Mr. Doan Truong Giang, Deputy Directors of the RECC; representatives from VnEconomy; Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA and UNFCCC international assessor; along with over 100 individuals and organizations with award-winning projects.
The first prize was awarded to two projects: "Collecting and Recycling Milk Cartons into Commercial Products" by Lagom Vietnam JSC and "NetZero Pallet" by Le Thanh from Veritas Vietnam JSC. The competition also recognized 02 second prizes, 06 third prizes, and 08 honorable mentions. This year's submissions covered a wide range of areas, including technology application for environmental protection, energy-saving technologies, plastic recycling, agricultural waste reuse, organic and eco-friendly production, environmental education, biodiversity conservation, and enhancing local livelihoods and cultural values.
In its inaugural year, the competition raised awareness and encouraged entrepreneurial innovation, identifying breakthrough solutions to drive the circular economy and achieve Vietnam's sustainable development goals.
