Asia Climate Summit 2025 in Thailand

21:33 | 12/07/2025

From July 8–10, 2025, the Asia Climate Summit 2025 took place in Thailand, bringing together climate experts, international organizations, and regional regulatory agencies to discuss the future of carbon markets and climate finance in Asia. The event was organized by the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) under the patronage of Thailand’s Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE).

KLINOVA was honored to participate in the summit, represented by Dr. Nguyễn Phương Nam – CEO of KLINOVA and an international reviewer under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). With extensive experience in evaluating national climate reports around the world, Dr. Nam’s presence underscored KLINOVA’s strong technical commitment to climate issues and its active engagement in supporting climate action both in Vietnam and across the Asian region.

The summit centered on key topics such as the implementation progress of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement following COP29, mobilizing climate finance, emerging trends in carbon market development across Asia, and the growing importance of nature-based solutions (NBS), carbon dioxide removal and capture technologies (CDR, CCUS), as well as the integration of digital tools and artificial intelligence into climate solutions. Discussions also explored the future of voluntary carbon markets in the global context, highlighted the urgency of developing regional standards within ASEAN, and emphasized the need to strengthen transparency in international carbon trading systems.

Over the three-day event, delegates engaged in expert panel discussions, high-level dialogues, and strategic policy roundtables. Beyond providing in-depth technical updates, the summit served as a dynamic platform for regional stakeholders to connect, share insights, and shape collaborative pathways. Discussions reflected a collective determination among Asian countries to accelerate climate action, marked by a significant shift in tools and approaches—from establishing transparent frameworks and harmonized standards to adopting advanced technologies and scaling up green finance. Asia Climate Summit 2025 was not only a pivotal forum for dialogue but also a catalyst for innovation and cooperation towards a low-emission, sustainable future for the region.
