KLINOVA accompanies the International Conference at Foreign Trade University towards the goal of Net Zero and carbon neutrality

12:40 | 10/03/2026
At the International Conference on the Carbon Market for Sustainable Transition, held at Foreign Trade University (FTU) on March 4th and 5th, KLINOVA participated as a co-organizer and professional patron for content related to the technical implementation of greenhouse gas inventory and carbon neutrality for the workshop.

During the conference, experts from KLINOVA shared detailed information on how KLINOVA could accompany the conference in its goal of moving towards carbon neutrality. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hue, KLINOVA's Project Director, and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Director of the Institute for Innovation Research at Foreign Trade University, presented the content on the greenhouse gas inventory model for the event, which included four main stages introduced to the audience.

The process begins with data initiation, scope definition, and collecting information about the workshop's activities. This data is then used for analyzing and calculating the GHG emissions from related sources, concurrently proposing suitable mitigation measures. Next, the data and calculation results undergo verification to finalize the GHG inventory report; and finally, the results are announced, along with the long-term monitoring and evaluation of emission reduction effectiveness.

From the preliminary inventory results, the total GHG emissions of the workshop were estimated at 9.49 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), with emissions almost entirely concentrated in Scope 3 at 9.16 tonnes of CO2e, accounting for about 96.49% of the total emissions. Scope 2, from grid electricity consumption, only accounted for 0.33 tonnes of CO2e, equivalent to 3.51%, while Scope 1 was virtually non-existent. This structure indicates that the largest source of emissions was not from the direct operation of the venue but mainly from indirect activities related to participants, especially transportation (7.14 tonnes of CO2e) and hotel accommodation (1.23 tonnes of CO2e). These figures show that for international or large-scale workshops, the emission challenge often lies more in logistics organization and delegate participation than in the activities within the auditorium itself.

Based on this, the organizing committee has delivered a carbon-neutral solution for the seminar through tree planting activities, encouraging participants to donate seedlings to the "Forest Garden" project as a way to offset the inventoried emissions, while simultaneously spreading the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

The support and technical consultation from KLINOVA played a significant role in assisting with the measurement, management, and offsetting of the conference's greenhouse gas emissions. Through the implementation of the emission inventory process, data analysis, and proposing suitable carbon neutrality solutions, KLINOVA contributed to helping the conference move towards the goal of building one of the pioneering models for carbon-neutral events in Vietnam, while also spreading the message about environmental responsibility and sustainable development within the academic and business community.
