HCMC Green Business Association Fosters Technology and Policy Linkages for Sustainable Development

14:13 | 31/07/2025
As green integration and digital transformation reshape the dynamics of the economy, strengthening the connections between businesses, technology hubs, international organizations, and policymakers is considered a key driver for innovation and sustainable development in Vietnam. With this goal in mind, on July 29, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) organized a series of working sessions and site visits to several domestic organizations and business associations.
The program focused on practical discussions surrounding the application of technology in production and the roadmap toward achieving Net Zero emissions within the business community.

On the morning of July 29, a delegation from HGBA, led by Chairman Mr. Dinh Hong Ky, visited the Ho Chi Minh City Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (HCMC C4IR) located in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to various platforms and technological solutions that C4IR is implementing to support business digital transformation, particularly in manufacturing, supporting industries, and supply chain management. Member businesses of HGBA from various sectors shared operational insights and exchanged experiences on integrating technology to adapt to new market demands. Speaking at the event, Mr. Ky noted that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and smart manufacturing models hold significant potential, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) - a segment facing substantial pressure from the dual transition of digitalization and decarbonization.

In the afternoon, HGBA continued its engagements with domestic and international partners, including the VCCI Office for Business Sustainable Development and Climateworks Centre (Australia). HGBA representatives, including Vice Chairwoman Ms. Vo Thi Lien Huong, Secretary-General Mr. Nguyen Linh Quang, and several Executive Committee members, held discussions with Dr. Nguyen Tien Huy - Director of the VCCI Office, Ms. Ceren Ayas - Head of Southeast Asia, and Mr. Ben Khuat - Vietnam Policy Manager at Climateworks. The meeting centered on potential cooperation in enabling Vietnamese enterprises to access international tools, resources, and initiatives that support Net Zero goals. Notably, all parties expressed mutual interest in establishing a tripartite collaboration model involving business associations, international organizations, and policy advisory bodies. In this model, HGBA would serve as a key connector, helping disseminate practical approaches suited to the capacities and contexts of domestic enterprises.

As a member of HGBA's Executive Committee, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam - CEO of KLINOVA - played an active role throughout the program, contributing valuable insights during both the morning and afternoon sessions. His remarks focused on practical solutions for enhancing businesses’ capabilities in both green and digital transitions, as well as fostering effective linkages between the private sector, technology centers, and international organizations.

KLINOVA’s active participation in the program demonstrated its commitment to accompanying Vietnamese businesses in their twin transition journeys, while also highlighting the company’s proactive role in building substantive partnerships with like-minded organizations committed to sustainable development. These efforts align with Vietnam’s pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

From an organizational perspective, the activities further underscored HGBA’s leadership role in promoting strategic partnerships among businesses, technology institutions, and policymakers. Through such initiatives, HGBA not only supports the adaptive capacity of enterprises in the face of evolving environmental, technological, and market demands, but also gradually affirms its position as an effective connector within the green-digital transformation ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam at large.
