It is time to decarbonize urban infrastructure with greener construction, building efficiency, and renewable energy solutions becoming more accessible and affordable. How to make these solutions bankable, scalable and inclusive is a question that Vietnam has to solve.

Dr Nam NGUYEN has addressed these problems with other distinguished guests at the 2024 Vietnam ESG Investor Conference (organized by Raise Partners and Vietnam Innovators by Vietcetera in Hochiminh City on May 16th-17th). With his expertise and experience in climate consultation, Dr Nam has delivered his insights on various matters.

Dr Nam emphasized that public investment is crucial for green critical infrastructure such as green roads, harbors, and airports. This infrastructural foundation can attract continuous private sector investments. Vietnam is also developing a green taxonomy and designing green loans and credits for sustainable urban projects.

He also shedded light on Vietnam’s plan to pilot a carbon market in the near future, which may be carried out in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, he affirmed that Vietnam is investing efforts in developing green policies and incentives, and is open to input and feedback from the private sector.

The 2024 Vietnam ESG Investor Conference with the central theme of “Building a Resilient Future for Vietnam,” has served as a platform for experts, businesses, policy-makers, etc. to discuss and exchange ideas on the future of sustainable development in Vietnam.
