In the morning of April 4, the conference “Green Transition: A Driving Force for Sustainable Development in the North Central Region” took place in Thanh Hoa province. The event attracted the attention and participation of representatives from government agencies, scientific organizations, experts, and business communities in the region.

The conference was jointly organized by the Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment and the People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province. It provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange experiences, seek solutions, and formulate strategies to promote green transition—a strategic priority for sustainable national development in the current context.

From the Thanh Hoa provincial government, Mr. Le Duc Giang – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – attended the event along with representatives from relevant departments and agencies. Representing the Vietnam Association for Clean Water and Environment was Mr. Chu Pham Ngoc Hien – former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and President of the Association – accompanied by Vice Presidents, the Secretary General, heads and deputy heads of departments, and leaders of affiliated units and member enterprises.

The conference brought together more than 120 delegates from six provinces and cities in the North Central region, including representatives from government agencies, scientists, experts, and businesses in both the agriculture and industrial sectors.

Notably, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA delivered a speech on “Developing Green Credit in Agriculture and Industry". In the presentation, Dr. Nam identified several key challenges in advancing green credit, including: lack of clear guidance on identifying and classifying green projects, absence of a comprehensive ESG risk management framework, insufficient access to reliable independent certifying organizations, and incomplete legal and policy frameworks. He also emphasized limitations in ESG knowledge and practices among enterprises, the burden of strict investor standards, and high compliance costs.

Dr. Nam emphasized the need for businesses in agriculture and industry to invest in improving ESG knowledge and practices, as well as promote green production initiatives to increase access to green finance and enhance long-term competitiveness.
