Inaugural Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA)

In the current context of climate change, resource depletion, and increasingly stringent international market demands, concepts such as green transformation, Net Zero, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) are no longer optional but have become essential requirements for the Vietnamese business community.

Aligning with the global trend of sustainable development, the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) was officially established, with an initial 150 member enterprises operating across various sectors including manufacturing, services, technology, and sustainability consulting. With the mission of "connecting – sharing – acting", HGBA aims to support enterprises in their green transition, enhance competitiveness, and collectively move toward the long-term goal of Net Zero emissions.

On June 10, 2025, the HGBA’s First Congress (2025–2030 term) was officially held in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting nearly 300 delegates – including pioneering business leaders, leading experts, policymakers, and representatives of sustainable development support organizations. The event marked not only the formation of HGBA’s first Executive Committee but also served as a strategic forum affirming the pivotal role of enterprises in Vietnam’s comprehensive green transition.

At the congress, Mr. Dinh Hong Ky – Chairman of the Board of Secoin Corporation - was elected as President of HGBA for the 2025–2030 term. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Ky emphasized: “HGBA is not just a professional association; it is a platform that unites pioneering businesses to take collective action toward transforming their business models in a greener, more innovative, and sustainable direction.” He also stated: “Going green is not just about planting trees—it requires a systematic transformation from mindset to action.”

The HGBA Executive Committee for the first term consists of 52 members, including 17 Standing Committee members and 3 Supervisory Committee members, representing key sectors such as manufacturing, construction, finance, renewable energy, technology, and communications. This team serves as the core leadership guiding the association’s direction, fostering connectivity and supporting businesses throughout their green transition journey.

A highlight of the congress was the panel discussion titled “Green Transition Amid Global Turbulence,” where experts and business leaders exchanged strategic insights. Notably, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, CEO of KLINOVA, delivered a compelling presentation on “Unlocking ESG – A Catalyst for Green Growth and Corporate Resilience.” Drawing from his extensive experience in consulting and supporting enterprises in sustainable development, Dr. Nam underscored ESG as a powerful lever to enhance business competitiveness and resilience in the face of global shifts.

In addition to his role as a keynote speaker, Dr. Nguyen Phuong Nam was also elected to HGBA’s Executive Committee for the 2025–2030 term, reflecting the business community’s recognition of Dr. Nam and KLINOVA’s contributions to promoting green transformation in Vietnam. His appointment also represents a collective expectation for dynamic, strategic, and pragmatic leadership in building a green, sustainable, and high-impact business ecosystem.

This event not only marks the official founding of HGBA – a pioneering organization connecting green-oriented enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City – but also demonstrates the growing maturity of the Vietnamese business community in adapting to global trends. In today’s challenging context, green transformation is no longer a “cost” but an “investment” in the long-term future of both enterprises and society.
